Enso FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you eliminate off-gassing (odor) within your products?

We add active charcoal to our foam during the manufacturing process to help absorb any odor, then wash the foam in mineral water after production to further eliminate odors. We also take care to package our mattresses in a manner that ensures that any odor created in the packaging process should dissipate within a very short period of time - usually within a few hours and a maximum of two days.

Off-gases are associated with opening a brand new mattress that has been sealed in plastic. Typically, the solution is simply letting the mattress air out, uncovered, for a day or two. Opening the windows in the room may help speed up the process. We recommend placing a quality mattress pad on top of the new mattress, as it helps protect the mattress from any potential spills that may cause later odor.

Do Enso mattresses meet safety commission’s flame retardant guidelines?

All mattresses sold in the USA are required to meet the federal government regulations on fire retardants. Rather than use harmful chemicals to make our mattresses flame retardant, we use a FR barrier made with fiberglass fibers that surrounds the foam stack and conforms with federal government regulations. This is commonly called an "FR Sock" in the industry, and is used by the vast majority of memory foam mattress manufacturers.

All of our foam is CertiPUR-US®, which means it is regularly independently tested in a laboratory and certified to meet voluntary internationally approved standards for content, emissions, and durability. CertiPUR-US® foams are low in emissions (VOCs) and are made without ozone depleters, PBDEs, mercury, lead, or other heavy metals, formaldehyde, and prohibited phthalates. (For more CertiPUR-US® information, go to www.certipur.us)

Can a heating pad be used with an Enso mattress?

Using a standard household heating pad according to the manufacturer’s instructions should have no adverse effect on your Enso mattress.

Does memory foam sleep "hot"?

Enso memory foam mattresses are designed with an open cell construction. This allows air to flow throughout the mattress, providing a cooler, fresher, healthier night’s sleep

Why does my new bed feel different to me than the one at the store?

If you’re used to a traditional mattress, your new Enso mattress may feel different at first. This is not uncommon. As you sleep on the mattress, it will respond to your body weight and temperature, conforming to your body, and feeling more like the bed you tested in the store. This is a similar process as breaking in a new pair of shoes - it will take a few days to achieve that perfect, conforming feeling. It is important to note that, after it is completely broken in, your mattress will still retain its responsiveness for years to come.

Does my room's temperature affect my new mattress?

Enso mattresses are sensitive to temperature — this is what helps them conform to your body and provide support. In cooler rooms (68°F or lower), your mattress may feel a bit firmer at first, but when you lie on it, it will respond to your body temperature and soften.

How long will it take my new mattress to fully recover its complete shape once I unpack it?

You will see an almost immediate recovery of your new Enso mattress within moments of unpacking. Depending on the room temperature, your mattress should immediately recover up to 85%, with full recovery within 4-6 hours.

What makes memory foam mattresses so unique and how will it help me sleep better?

Memory foam, also known as visco-elastic, was originally developed in conjunction with the NASA space program to protect astronauts from the harmful effects of G-forces. Memory foam has the unique ability to conform to an individual’s body shape in order to provide support where it is most needed. This reduces the need to toss and turn in order to find a comfortable position. Because it puts less pressure on your body, you will benefit from improved circulation, reduced stress, and enjoy a truly relaxing night’s sleep.

Is memory foam hypo-allergenic? How will a memory foam mattress affect my allergies?

Allergists have warned that the average mattress is a haven for dust-mites. Enso memory foam is manufactured using a hypoallergenic process that renders it virtually dust-mite free and non-allergenic. This makes memory foam ideal for people with allergies.
